Makerspace and 3D Printing Services

Q: What is a mini-makerspace?

A: A mini-makerspace is a community-oriented workshop equipped with tools and equipment for creative projects. Our space offers access to a laser cutter, 3D printer, and Wi-Fi, allowing individuals to bring their ideas to life.

Q: Who can use the mini-makerspace?

A: Our mini-makerspace is open to the public ages 16 and up. Whether you’re a hobbyist, artist, student, entrepreneur, or simply curious, you’re welcome to explore and utilize our resources.

Q: What equipment do you have available?

A: We have a laser cutter and a 3D printer, both of which are available for use during your booked time slots. Our Wi-Fi connection ensures you can access online resources and design software for your projects.

Q: How much does it cost to use the mini-makerspace?

A: Our basic package is $50 per hour, which includes access to the space, use of equipment, and some materials. Additionally, we offer a subscription option for unlimited bookings. The subscription is $150 per month from September to June and $75 per month during the summer.

**We do not charge additional time if you leave a 3D print to finish at the end of your session, but you are responsible for loading the design and monitoring for early print failure. If you would like to print multiple models, we suggest asking about a quote for our 3D printing services instead of booking time in the makerspace.

Q: What materials are included in the basic package?

A: The basic package includes some commonly used materials such as wood, acrylic, and PLA filament for the 3D printer. Additional materials may be available for purchase or users can bring their own.

Q: How do I book time in the mini-makerspace?

A: Booking time in the mini-makerspace is easy! Simply visit our website or give us a call to check availability and reserve your time slot. Walk-ins are also welcome, depending on availability.

Q: Are there any safety guidelines I should be aware of?

A: Yes, safety is our top priority. Before using any equipment, we provide a brief orientation on safety procedures. Closed-toe shoes, safety goggles, and appropriate attire are required while using the equipment. Users must follow all posted guidelines and instructions from our staff.

Q: Can I bring my own materials and designs?

A: Absolutely! We encourage users to bring their own materials and designs to work on their projects. However, please ensure that any materials brought into the space are safe and appropriate for use with our equipment.

Q: Can I get assistance with my project?

A: Our staff members are knowledgeable and available to provide assistance and guidance as needed. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced maker, we’re here to help you bring your ideas to life.

Q: Is there a limit to how long I can use the equipment?

A: Time limits may apply depending on demand and availability. Users are encouraged to be mindful of others and respect any time limits that may be in place. If you require extended time for your project, consider our subscription option for unlimited bookings.

Q: Can I host workshops or events in the mini-makerspace?

A: Yes! We welcome workshops, events, and group bookings in our mini-makerspace. Please contact us for more information on availability and pricing for hosting your event.
